چکیده

A formalism is proposed for representing uncertain information on set-valued variables using the formalism of belief functions. A set-valued variableX on a domain Ω is a variable taking zero, one or several values in Ω. While defining mass functions on the frame 22 Ω is usually not feasible because of the double-exponential complexity involved, we propose an approach based on a definition of a restricted family of subsets of 2Ω that is closed under intersection and has a lattice structure. Using recent results about belief functions on lattices, we show that most notions from Dempster-Shafer theory can be transposed to that particular lattice, making it possible to express rich knowledge about X with only limited additional complexity as compared to the single-valued case. An application to multi-label classification (in which each learning instance can belong to several classes simultaneously) is demonstrated.

Arithmetic Aggregation Operators for Interval-valued Intuitionistic Linguistic Variables and Application to Multi-attribute Group Decision Making

The intuitionistic linguistic set (ILS) is an extension of linguisitc variable. To overcome the drawback of using single real number to represent membership degree and non-membership degree for ILS, the concept of interval-valued intuitionistic linguistic set (IVILS) is introduced through representing the membership degree and non-membership degree with intervals for ILS in this paper. The oper...

An Interval-Valued Dissimilarity Measure for Belief Functions Based on Credal Semantics

Evidence theory extends Bayesian probability theory by allowing for a more expressive model of subjective uncertainty. Besides standard interpretation of belief functions, where uncertainty corresponds to probability masses which might refer to whole subsets of the possibility space, credal semantics can be also considered. Accordingly, a belief function can be identified with the whole set of ...

belief function and the transferable belief model

Beliefs are the result of uncertainty. Sometimes uncertainty is because of a random process and sometimes the result of lack of information. In the past, the only solution in situations of uncertainty has been the probability theory. But the past few decades, various theories of other variables and systems are put forward for the systems with no adequate and accurate information. One of these a...

A Complete Calcultis for Possibilistic Logic Programming with Fuzzy Propositional Variables

In this paper we present a propositional logic programming language for reasoning under possibilistic uncertainty and represent ing vague knowledge. Formulas are repre sented by pairs (ip, a), where ip is a many valued proposition and a E [0, 1] is a lower bound on the belief on ip in terms of necessity measures. Belief states are modeled by pos sibility distributions on the set of all many...

Modeling vague beliefs using fuzzy-valued belief structures

This paper presents a rational approach to the representation and manipulation of imprecise degrees of belief in the framework of evidence theory. We adopt as a starting point the non probabilistic interpretation of belief functions provided by Smets’ Transferable Belief Model, as well as previous generalizations of evidence theory allowing to deal with fuzzy propositions. We then introduce the...
